October is National Arts & Humanities Month and Napa Valley will show off the bounty of its own creative community during ARTS '11, a Valley-wide, monthlong celebration of the arts and culture in the legendary Napa Valley. ARTS '11 offers dozens of events taking place throughout October--from Calistoga and St. Helena in the north, to the City of Napa and American Canyon to the south. ARTS '11 celebrates the depth and breadth of the arts and culture through the visual arts, performance, dance, music, photography, architecture, history, new media and more. ARTS '11 opens the weekend of October 1st and 2nd with events spanning the Valley, and culminates with a "Spooktacular!" Halloween themed art-filled weekend in the City of Napa, October 28th - 30th.

Over 40 events have already been scheduled to satisfy the cravings of even the most serious art and culture lovers. For the most up-to-date listings of what's happening in the arts and culture scene during ARTS '11, visit www.nvarts.org. More events are being added regularly, so check back often. "ARTS '11 is a celebration of all the artistic effort and community that is active throughout the year here in the Napa Valley," explains Peter Williams, Artistic Director of the Napa Valley Opera House. "We are so fortunate to have such a rich variety of artistic resources, from visual arts to performing arts, and since October is such a popular time to visit our area, we think it's also a great opportunity to build awareness of the arts activities that are available to the community."

"During ARTS '11, we offer our creative, abundant bounty to both visitors and locals. We invite everyone to explore the rich array of arts and culture that we are lucky enough to experience everyday," says Kristina Young, executive director of Arts Council Napa Valley. "This is a celebration of creativity for everyone, with events at multiple price points and disciplines. In a destination already renowned for its wine and food, ARTS '11 showcases the robust flavors of local arts and culture."

Napa Valley ARTS '11 is presented by Arts Council Napa Valley, and is made possible through the generosity of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Napa County; Napa Valley Destination Council; the Napa Tourism Improvement District; the Napa Valley Community Foundation; California Arts Council, a state agency and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
